Rapid prototyping is a group of techniques used to quickly fabricate a scale model of a physical part, assembly, or product concept from a three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) file, allowing designers and engineers to test and iterate on ideas early in the development process. It emphasizes speed and iteration over perfection, often leveraging additive manufacturing methods like 3D printing to create tangible prototypes from digital models.
