- What is cnc machined?
CNC machining, or Computer Numerical Control machining, is a subtractive manufacturing process that uses pre-programmed computer software to control the movement of factory tools and machinery, allowing for precise and automated production of parts from materials like metal, plastic, or wood. It evolved from earlier numerical control (NC) systems and relies on instructions called G-code to dictate operations such as cutting, drilling, milling, or turning on machines like lathes, mills, or routers.
How It Works
1.Design Phase: A digital model (often from CAD software) is created.
2.Programming: The model is converted into G-code, which provides step-by-step instructions for the machine.
3.Setup and Execution: The raw material is secured in the CNC machine, which then removes excess material layer by layer based on the code, producing the final part with high accuracy (often within 0.001 inches).
4.Finishing: Post-processing like polishing may be applied.
This automation reduces human error, enables complex geometries, and supports high-volume production in industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical devices.
