A 5-axis CNC machine is a type of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine that can move a tool or workpiece along five different axes simultaneously. Unlike traditional 3-axis CNC machines, which operate along the X (left-right), Y (forward-back), and Z (up-down) axes, a 5-axis machine adds two rotational axes (typically A and B, or A and C), allowing the tool or workpiece to tilt and rotate. This enables more complex and precise machining in a single setup.

Key Features:

Axes of Movement:

X, Y, Z: Linear movements for positioning the tool or workpiece.

A-axis: Rotation around the X-axis (tilting).

B-axis or C-axis: Rotation around the Y-axis or Z-axis, respectively.

Capabilities:Machines complex geometries, such as curved surfaces, intricate contours, or parts with multiple angled features.

Reduces the need for multiple setups, improving efficiency and accuracy.

Types:

Full 5-axis: All five axes move simultaneously for continuous machining of complex shapes.

3+2 axis: The machine positions the workpiece using two rotational axes, then locks them to perform 3-axis machining.
